Do you hear that? Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming and children are playing outside as the weather gets warmer and the days grow longer. We are happy to welcome spring, and in honor of Earth Day on April 22, we bring you our Eco issue.
On the cover this month is one of the amazing sculptures created by André Gandin, a local industrial folk artist who for decades has been creating his pieces from metal that would otherwise have been trashed. While he no longer does art shows, he happily invites you to enjoy his permanent gallery in his backyard in Spring, Texas. When you visit, be sure to check out his sand writer!
Mother earth provides the wonderful, fresh ingredients that Michael and Nataliya Goryachev use for Nyam Nyam’s extensive menu featuring delicious varieties of both sweet and savory crepes and innovative Russian cuisine.
If you haven’t visited Otto’s Emporium in old town Tomball, you are missing out on an amazing collection of chic farmhouse home decor. Owners Mike and Sharon Brockwell have expanded the shop to a city block on Main Street, which is full of furniture, art and one-of-a-kind treasures that are eclectic and unique. And Mike is happy to create a custom piece to fit your imagination.
Springtime opens the door to what we inevitably experience as our Houston summer months. I like to tell people that Houston is the air-conditioning capital of the world! Whether or not that is true, we all experience an uptick in the cost to cool our homes, and our friends at Aire Serv offer some helpful tips to lessen the hit to our budget.
Our friend Alley Leto rounds out the issue by doing what she does best: sharing her expert lifestyle tips. This time she offers an easy yet stylish plan for creating an intimate luncheon without breaking the bank or losing your sanity!
We have been publishing Cypress Lifestyle for nine months, and as I write these letters each month, I think about you, the reader, and hope we are bringing you interesting stories about our community that will inform you, give you hope, move you to act and give you the warm and fuzzies!
I invite you to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to suggest stories you think our community would enjoy. If you have already sent me an idea, please know I have you on my mind and will look for the perfect way to tell your story. And don’t forget to send me pictures for Good Times, announcements for Around Town and events for the monthly calendar.
I look forward to seeing your around town!
